Clarissa Spata
Clarissa Spata graduated with Distinction in Voice (BMus) at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Clarissa has just been offered the title role of Gretel in “Hansel & Gretel” with Opera Australia’s Touring Company Oz Opera for 2012. In 2011 Clarissa performed over 150 shows as the Soprano role of Clown, Lady Sue (Rap Artist) and a Music Hall Singer in Opera Australia Oz Opera’s Sid The Serpent Who Wanted To Sing by the Australian Composer Malcolm Fox, directed by Joh Puglisi and musically directed by Ingrid Sakrovs. Clarissa has also performed up to 183 shows singing the title role of Cinderella and the step sister Clorinda in Opera Australia’s Oz Opera’s touring production of Cinderella (La Cenerentola) in 2009 by Rossini, directed by Elizabeth Hill and musically directed by Ingrid Sakrovs. She has performed the roles of the Sorceress and First Witch in two productions of Dido & Aenaes, the role of Quivera in The Indian Queen by Purcell and has also performed the role of Gianetta in The Gondoliers by Gilbert and Sullivan. Her music theatre roles include Cosette in Les Miserables, Kate/Lilli Vanessi in Kiss Me Kate, Jenny Lind in Barnum, Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes, and Babe Williams in The Pajama Game. In 2010, Clarissa was selected to be a part of the Young Artist Program for Pacific Opera Company. 
Clarissa recently returned from a tour of 20 performances in Hong Kong with the “VII Sopranos,” created by Tarita Carbo (Botsman). She toured Japan as lead soprano in the operatic group Encore in 2010 and had the honour of performing in the Tokyo Opera House. Clarissa also performs internationally with SMA Productions shows such as “Opera by Disguise,” “A Night of Stars,” 
“Wish Upon A Star” and “Entertainment by Design.”
Clarissa won the Dame Joan Sutherland Encouragement Award in 2002. In 2006, she was recognized as an Outstanding Artist in the McDonald’s Performing Arts Challenge, and won the Pollards People’s Choice Award for Performance Excellence. 
Clarissa is the Winner of Opera Foundation Australia’s 2011 Lady Fairfax New York Scholarship and Winner of The Australian Singing Competition’s 2011 Opera Awards Royal Over-seas League Music Bursary Award.
